Katie Boulter wins all-British duel with Raducanu

Katie Boulter rallied from a one-set disadvantage to defeat Emma Raducanu 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in an all-British semifinal at the Nottingham Open on Sunday. The game resumed on Sunday after being suspended late the day before due to terrible lighting following an incredible first set that lasted more than 80 minutes.

Raducanu won the set in a tiebreak but struggled with her serve following the resumption, as Boulter, 27, took advantage of several double faults to tie the match. The deciding set was another tense affair, with Boulter, the British No. 1, breaking in the sixth game but immediately failing to hold service, the first two of five straight breaks as momentum shifted back and forth. Boulter eventually won the match on the sixth of those breaks, finishing after three hours and thirteen minutes. Boulter, Nottingham’s defending winner, will face Karolina Pliskova in the final later on Sunday. “Honestly, I think I’m going to need a little defibrillator out here soon because my heart rate is too high right now,” the world number 30 said after the match.

“What a match, what a tremendous player; I know she will only grow stronger and better, and she makes it so difficult for you to close it out.

“It’s always difficult to come back as defending champion — I’ve never done this before — so this is my first time, but so far it’s going well. Also read: Iga Swiatek Net Worth 2024, Salary, Endorsements, Cars, Houses, Properties, Charities, Etc.
