By defeating Andrey Rublev, Ruud made progress. 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. Zverev finished his round-robin group with a perfect three wins. Alcaraz had one victory, Rublev had none, and Ruud had two.
When he was unable to fully reach a Zverev passing effort and ended up sprawled on the court, Alcaraz lost a vital point despite turning on the style in the final game. “He changes into someone else.
