Andy Murray will make his comeback from an ankle injury at this month’s Geneva Open, after receiving a wildcard from the French Open tuneup event organizers on Wednesday.
Andy Murray, who turns 37 later this month, injured ligaments in his left ankle in the final set of his Miami Open loss to Tomas Machac in March and pulled out of the Monte Carlo Masters and Munich Open last month. He chose not to undergo surgery and will now compete in the May 18-25 event in Switzerland. Also read: Boris Becker discharged from bankruptcy court in England
The three-time Grand Slam winner, who underwent hip resurfacing surgery in 2019, previously stated that he did not intend to “play much past this summer” but planned to compete in another Olympics.
Murray has also stated that he planned to compete in the French Open, which begins on May 26 at Roland Garros. Murray has not competed in the tournament since 2020, nor has he won a match there since 2017.
Wimbledon, where Murray has won twice, begins on July 1, with the Paris Games following later that month. Also read: Jannik Sinner To Play In French Open only if 100% fit
