Breaking: Ben Shelton Wins his First ATP Tour title at Japan Open

The 21-year-old tennis rising star, Ben Shelton won his maiden ATP Tour title on Sunday in Tokyo, Japan, at the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships after defeating Aslan Karatsev of Russia in two straight sets. The score of the match was 7-6 and 6-1 in favor of the young American.

Shelton faced no pressure and played with freedom against the experienced tennis player. Ben, with his powerful left-hand serve, proved again to be deadly, as he won 80% of first serve points and 78% of second serve points, completely dominating the Russian star. This win in the finals has made him win his maiden ATP title, and $376,620 of prize money has been added to his net worth.

Ben Shelton’s win in this championship has proved his hard work and dedication towards the game. This win will ensure he climbs to his career-best ranking in the official ATP singles rankings next week.

Ben will also be playing in the singles and doubles categories at the Erste Bank Vienna Open in Austria. As per reports, he is a favorite due to his dominating performance at the Japan Open. He will face world no. 4, Jannik Sinner, in the round of 32 at the Vienna Open. Ben, along with Daniel Evans, will face the pair of Cameron Norrie and Tommy Paul in the round of 16.
