Iga Swiatek Tops Madison Keys To Reach Semis At Italian Open

Top-ranked Iga Swiatek advanced to the Italian Open quarterfinals by defeating previous finalist Madison Keys 6-1, 6-3, on Tuesday. Swiatek had the identical outcome and score against Keys in the Madrid semifinals two weeks earlier.

The 16th-ranked Keys became increasingly upset with her inability to convert break points, accumulating up 10 without converting a single one, and at one point smashed her racket against the clay. Also read: Novak Djokovic Felt Water Bottle Incident Impacted Him During Italian Open Loss

Iga Swiatek, a two-time winner, will next face No. 3 Coco Gauff or No. 7 Qinwen Zheng.

Taylor Fritz has advanced to the men’s quarterfinals for the first time, defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-7 (11), 6-1 despite losing a protracted second-set tiebreak in which he squandered match chance.

Fritz saved all 11 break points and will face third-seeded Alexander Zverev or Nuno Borges.

Alejandro Tabilo advanced to the Masters quarterfinals for the first time, defeating Karen Khachanov 7-6 (5), 7-6 (10), following his dramatic third-round victory over top-ranked Novak Djokovic. Also read: Jannik Sinner To Play In French Open only if 100% fit
