Jannik Sinner survives Jarry scare in Beijing

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner defeated Nicolas Jarry in the opening round of the China Open, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, to start his title defence. With victories in the US Open and Cincinnati, the Italian increased his winning run to 12 and achieved his second Grand Slam of the year. Jannik Sinner has a 76-6 record over the last 52 weeks.

In their lone grass court match of 2019 at’s-Hertogenbosch, Jarry prevailed, and the Chilean dominated Sinner in the opening set in Beijing with 11 wins.
