Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from next week’s Open 13 Provence in Marseille, organizers announced Monday. The 22-year-old Italian won his maiden Grand Slam victory on Sunday, defeating Daniil Medvedev in five sets after coming from two sets down against the big-serving Russian.
Organizers offered Sinner’s spot in the Feb. 5-11 indoor competition to Australian Open semifinalist Alexander Zverev. Sinner became the first Italian male to win a major singles title in almost 50 years. Also read: Australian Open 2024: Hsieh Su-Wei, Elise Mertens win women’s doubles title
