Adrian Mannarino Secures Astana Open Victory

In a thrilling showdown at the Astana Open final, Adrian Mannarino emerged victorious, halting the impressive run of Sebastian Korda to claim his second title of 2023. Mannarino showcased his remarkable skills and resilience throughout the match, ultimately securing the championship. When Adrian Mannarino defeated Sebastian Korda in the Astana Open final on Tuesday with a comeback victory of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. He became the first Frenchman since 2020 to win three tour-level championships in a single season.

Mannarino, who had won in Newport earlier this year, lost to John Millman in the Astana championship match in 2020. By overcoming Korda in their first Lexus ATP Head2Head match after two hours and ten minutes, he made sure he wouldn’t experience any more misery at the ATP 250 competition. “At the beginning of the match I was not feeling my best,” Mannarino said. “I was a little tight. And then when I was down in the second set I started to try and enjoy the match and play with less stress. I tried some tough shots and it worked out pretty well. And got a bit lucky to come back in the second set and then in the third set I was feeling better. I am pretty happy with that match.”

Korda wanted to take home his first championship since Parma in 2021.

The American, who is ranked No. 26 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings, has now lost each of his five hard court tour-level final matches. He surpassed his previous career record of 33 victories in 2017. Furthermore with a personal-best 37 victories on the circuit this year. With his most recent victory, Mannarino has risen one rank, to No. 23, from his previous career-high No. 22, in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings.
