Carlos Alcaraz, world no. 2 has pulled out of this month’s Swiss Indoors Championship, an ATP 500 tennis tournament in Basel, due to injury.
In an official announcement by the tournament organizers, ” Alcaraz had to cancel his start at the Swiss Indoors Championship in Basel due to an injury”. On his Instagram, Carlos posted “I have a problem with the plantar fascia in my left foot and muscle fatigue in my lower back which need treatment so I can play the rest of the season. I hope to see you all soon!”
In 2023, Carlos has dominated the singles division with a 63-9 win-loss record with six titles (Wimbledon, Indian Wells, Madrid, Barcelona, London, and Buenos Aires). He has earned around $9,603,879 as prize money in 2023. Carlos also reached the finals at Cincinnati Masters and Rio Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie respectively.
The Spanish tennis star is in a close battle to end the year as world no. 1 with Novak Djokovic. Due to his injury, it seems very difficult for him to replace and end the year as world no. 1 as Novak will gain advantage in the upcoming tours. We wish for Carlos Alcaraz’s speedy recovery and comeback in the tennis world.
