Olympics 2024 Tennis: Dates, Format, and more details

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has released the format and all important information for this year’s tennis event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will commence on July 26 (opening ceremony) and conclude on August 11. As per the reports, tennis will be played during the first week of this event, starting from July 27 to August 4. The knockout rounds will begin on August 2. Since the 1988 Seoul Olympics, tennis has been played as a full-time medal sport.

The tennis event will be played on an outdoor court at the Stade Roland Garros, where the French Open will be hosted. The court is made of red clay, which is well suited to the weather and climate of France.

This summer tennis event will have five separate events that include women’s and men’s singles (64 players each), women’s and men’s doubles (32 teams each), and mixed doubles (16 teams). After the French Open, direct entries will be based on the ATP and WTA rankings.

The countries can only send a maximum of four singles players per singles division, two teams per doubles division, and only one mixed doubles team. The seeds and placement of players will be done by International Tennis Federation.
